Champions {a guest post by John}

We are the Champions

Jenn and the kids got guilted decided to come see my men's league championship game. We were in the championship.
Carter decided he either wanted to play on the field or in the parking lot, not on the sidelines where he belonged.
Grace just soaked up the atmosphere and was a good cheerleader.
We won 4-2 and got these orange shirts for winning the cup. Jenn got to see me score a goal although I am sure she missed it. I am so happy they came and watched us triumph. Glory Glory.

The Last Day of School

Today is our last day of school and we are so excited and ready for summer!

Grace brought these water bottles to give to her friends at school.

I put the kids' initials on the bottles, we put a pack of Kool-Aid inside, and tied a cute tag around.

She is so excited to give these to her friends!

I helped the kids in Grace's class put their handprints on this canvas the other day.  I thought this might be a cute way for Grace's teacher to remember her very first class.

We already have our summer plans made and...

...we are SUPER eXCiTeD (especially Carter)!!!

I hope you have a hAppY sUmmEr!

The Results Are In!

The winner of American Idol is...

...Phillip...

...Phillips!!!

Have you been watching?

American Idol?
Well, we definitely have been and Grace has been SUPER excited to watch each week.

We didn't watch all the try-outs and Grace wasn't quite sure how this whole process worked.  She knew that she was "supposed to have a favorite."  So, she picked Randy Jackson, a judge, as her favorite.
"That's the one that I want to marry.  Him's handsome.  I want to marry him a lot...a bery, bery, bery lot!"

Oh my!  Anyway, she eventually found out that he was married and that she could pick a favorite singer.  She picked "all da girls" as her favorite.  Now, this so-called watching the show that I am referring to is not watching in the normal sense of the word.  It usually starts out that way...you know sitting on the couch covered up with a quilt and maybe eating a little snack.

But, it quickly turns into this!

or maybe this

Eventually, Carter gets put in bed and the tv is turned up so loud because I am DESPERATELY trying to hear at least one song out of the 54 that are sung during each 2 hour show.  But, my attempts always fail!  "Watching American Idol" ALWAYS turns into background noise to the "proncert" that takes place in my living room every week.

Now that Grace has screamed sung along with the show each week, she believes that she will be on American Idol.  "One day, when I'm on there it will be me, Taylor 'Smith', Phillip Phillips, and new people."  She has practiced a ton and she should be ready!  Every week, I have to introduce her before she sings each song and judge her at the end.  She can sing and dance with a microphone, the stand, and/or either.  Oh, and she will also come and stick her hand in front of me so I can touch her...just like the real contestants do.

I have also been asked..."Momma, will you go with me to American Idol?  You gotta tell me what to wear.  It's ok, Jessica's mom goes with her."

So, tonight is the finale and Grace's favorite is Jessica.

And, I like Phillip!

It should be exciting to see who wins and how Grace reacts to the finale!

John was preparing her for the end of the show because he didn't want her to be upset when the show stops coming on.  She replied, "Don't worry, next year there will be two new girls.  I'll give you a hint. Dem live in this house and dem got curly hair."  Oh, my goodness!  She actually believes we will be on American Idol next year!!!

I am going to leave you with a video of our weekly living room American Idol "proncert."  Oh, and this one is one of the more subdued performances.
