zoo fun

 While Mimi had some little visitors from Texas, she invited us to tag along on their trip to the zoo.

They were so sweet together!

We had fun hanging out with some cousins and some animals!

unlike our last trip to the zoo, this time we actually went into the zoo.  our summer has had some unusually cool days and this was one of them!  we got to visit the zoo with the rest of the city.

the kids love to feed the birds!

they like to see how many birds they can get on their feeding stick.  i think we've got three at a time.

we also got to feed the giraffes...carter only feeds them with his mouth.

ewww!  i kind of don't like ostriches.  a lot.  their so big and those toes!  but, the necks totally gross me out!!!

we went to the zoo?

so, we went to the zoo to try to squeeze in one last trip before our membership expired.  and, well...apparently, this whole summer thang had us a bit confused on the date.  we showed up to the zoo a day late.  oops!!!  we went to the park instead.  and we got ice cream!

during this past extra long weekend, we went to member's night at the zoo.

we loved feeding the birds.

it was pretty cool...birds flying past your head.

we visited a few animals before it got too dark.

then it was time to take advantage of the free rides.  the kids didn't even know there were rides at the zoo...maybe, because we somehow always miss them when we visit.  but, for this "special night" we got to ride all of them!  woo-hoo!!!

we had a fun time, but let me just say...the zoo is kinda scary at night.  i wasn't a fan of being in the dark with all the lions and tigers and bears. oh my.

I hid from the kids and ate Oreos.  John stood guard for me.  Surviving this whole parenting thing takes a lot of teamwork.  Ha!

We had a super fun and hot day!  Some of us were hotter than others.  (Sometimes, I wish it wasn't weird for grown-ups to run through sprinkler parks/geysers/fountains.)
