pumpkin day

Grace, Carter Man, and I had a fun pumpkin day!  We started with a pumpkin craft.  Grace said this was her favorite part of the whole day...painting.

Carter was very confused.  I sat him at the kitchen table, gave him a plate, put paint on it, and gave him the paintbrush.  What would you do if you were 21 months old?  You would eat it, of course.  After all, you're sitting at the kitchen table with a plate in front of you.

While the paint was drying and/or being digested, we read some pumpkin books and colored a pumpkin.

Then we played some games with some candy corn and pumpkin numbers.

Carter just ate the candy.

Finally, we finished our pumpkin craft.  And Carter did not eat the glue (I don't think).

He was pretty proud of his pumpkin!

Ta-Da!

There are many more pumpkin post coming.  I just love fall and pumpkins.  Don't you?

craft Tuesday

This week for craft Tuesday, we made octopuses (sp?) out of toilet paper rolls.

Step 1: Dig a toilet paper roll out of the trash can.

Step 2: Paint the toilet paper roll.

Step 3:  Eat the paintbrush.

Step 4: Cut slits along the bottom and curl to make tentacles. (I think ours have more than eight...Oops!)

Step 5: Add eyes.  We used googly eyes, but you could use paint or markers.

Step 6: Punch small circles out of fun foam and glue to your octopus.

Step 7: Pose for a picture with your octopus.

Why is he so big?

Step 8: Make an ocean habitat for your octopus to live in.

craft Tuesday

I saw this craft a few months ago and saved it for the perfect day which turned out to be today!

Grace used watercolors and
painted her paper.

Let it dry.

Next, we used a butterfly paper punch and punched out as many butterflies as we could! (John jumped in for a picture...he was NOT punching out butterflies!)

We painted a canvas to match her bedroom.

Then, we took all of the butterflies and hot glued them on the canvas.  Grace handed me each and EVERY butterfly and told me where she wanted them glued down.

Ta-Da!
Beautiful art and a proud girl!

This was so fun!
Making REAL art for the wall!

Craft Tuesday

We had Craft Tuesday at Steph's house with her boys and Lily (somehow, she is missing from all my pics).  We are going to the zoo soon, so we decided to use the kids' handprints to paint their favorite zoo animal.  The kids were waiting patiently to get started!

We went around the table and the kids "acted" like their favorite zoo animal.  Can you guess what Grace's was?

A giraffe, of course!

Andrew's favorite was a giraffe too!
Tripp's favorite was a elephant and then a tiger because it says, "GRRRR!"

After the zoo craft and destroying the boys' playroom, we came home ate lunch, took a nap rested, and got out the slip~n~slide!

Ahhhh!  I LOVE summer!!!

randomness

ok...let's see...where to begin

We finally started Carter on some cereal and well, he wasn't into it.  At all!  (Of course he wasn't!)

~~~~~
Grace used her piggy bank money and went on a little shopping spree.  Her plan was to go to the Disney Store and get the Beast to go with her Belle.  But, she changed her mind.  She wanted to get "Punzel."  She didn't have enough money to get Rapunzel from the Disney Store, but she did have enough to get some sunglasses and Rapunzel from Target.  So, she bought some Ariel sunglasses and left.  But, she changed her mind.  She now wanted to ride the carousel.  She had enough money for that too, but that was it!  She rode the carousel.  But, she changed her mind.  She wanted to jump.  Not enough money.  But, she changed her mind.  She wanted a cookie.  Not enough money.  But, she changed her mind.  She wanted pizza.  Not enough money.  Finally, we got to Target with enough money to buy "Punzel!"  She was happy!  John and I were exhausted!  3 years old is not the appropriate age to learn a life lesson about money!
"I bery wuv my special Punzel!"
