a visit with santa

so, we are past the stage of screaming and crying or standing a mile away when we visit santa.  now, they come with a plan and a mental list of things to ask for.  they said their hellos and how ya beens and smiled for a photo then they got down to business.  grace asked for the american girl doll, grace.  then, santa asked what else she wanted.  what???  santa, no!!!!!!  so, she thought an american girl doll kitchen would be nice to have as well.  boy, santa, we might need to talk about this!  carter took his turn and asked for star wars legos and a star wars blanket.  then, they said their see ya laters and merry christmases and that was the end.

of course, these kiddos were super excited to visit with Santa!

they both sat in his lap with no problems and when Santa asked what they wanted for Christmas...Carter said, "a Barbie!"  Grace laughed a big and nervous laugh...because a Barbie!?!  seriously???  you don't joke about stuff like that.  you will get a Barbie from Santa!

Grace nervously asked for art supplies.  then, Santa asked for something!

he would like this little artist to draw a picture for him and leave it beside his milk and cookies.  she agreed and went straight to work on her masterpiece as soon as she got home!

so, we saw santa

grace and carter were super excited to go see santa.  grace, i think, was nervous as usual. carter was just crazy.  but, the nerves and craziness created this sweet moment. 

both kiddos happily sat in santa's lap and asked for one gift each.  grace asked for a rainbow loom and carter wants a train table.

santa was begging to know what else they wanted, but there was nothing else.  one gift and that's all.

santa did give them 2 pieces of candy and they were totally cool with that!

grace even gave santa a hug, i mean, grace even let santa hug her!  this sweet girl has come a long way over the past couple of years!!! 

A Visit with Santa

Well, we went to visit Santa.  Grace was excited and nervous.  Carter could have cared less.

Santa was so friendly and patient and spent so much time with Grace and Carter.  They cautiously walked up to Santa and handed him their letters.

Carter sat in his lap while he read the letter.  He was nervous, but brave!

Santa had to get on to Carter for hitting Grace...pretty sure that Carter wasn't listening.  Ha!

Next, Santa read Grace's letter.  She was not going to sit in his lap though!

Santa was a little baffled by her request..."a trash can?  a big one?  a little one?  one to go in your room?"  I love how she is looking at him!

Then, it was time for a keepsake photo with Santa.  One to put in a lovely frame.  One to cherish for years to come.  One that would capture these sweet moments with Santa and my babies.

Yep.  That's about right.  Carter's screaming and reaching out for his momma.  White socks. Ugh.  Grace is seven feet away from Santa because there was no way she was going to be tricked into sitting in that man's lap.

Santa! I KNOW HIM!!!

She had a plan.  She walked straight up to Santa.  Stopped about 3-4 feet away.  Stretched her arm as far as it would go.  Handed her letter to Santa.

But...that jolly ole' soul coerced her to stand right beside him.  He couldn't get her in his lap though!  Carter, just like his big sister, was NOT cool with sitting in Santa's lap!

John and I were very surprised about how this whole seeing Santa thing went down!  We were shocked that Grace was so brave and that Carter  was so not.  But, it's all good...we got our Santa pic!!!

Next, we ate dinner and Grace earned a White Chocolate Christmas milkshake...mmm!
