a trip to the hunt house

we took a trip to the hunt house to surprise poppa for his birthday.

but, we ended up doing way more than partying!

poppa took grace and carter hunting...i think they lasted an entire 10 minutes in the stand.  maybe.

we went on a pond adventure.

there were some explorations. 

we found a snail.

there was a terrifying experience with a stick bug.  DO NOT ask carter about it!  ha!

but, mostly, we just hung around with our family!

our weekend at the hunt house

the other weekend, we spent some time at the hunt house with our family.  it was super cold so, we spent a lot of time indoors.  we were able to play outside for a little bit while the sun was shining!  the kids played hard!!!  running, swinging, collecting acorns, making "soups"

while we were warming up indoors, we ate some yummy taco soup, made little arrow ornaments and necklaces, and played some more.

poppa built a massive bonfire so, it was back outside to play with fall leaves and roast sticky marshmallows!

the next morning, there were some snuggles, an after breakfast game of uno, and lots more playing!

and then we carved pumpkins

john and carter worked on "the boys' pumpkin."

while grace and i worked on "the girls' pumpkin."

grace designed our pumpkin all by herself and together we carved it.

after pumpkin carving, we gathered around the bonfire and ate dinner.

carter shared his hot dog with "kylie puppy."

grace finally got to eat a peanut butter cup s'more...this girl loves some sweets!!!

once we cleaned off all the sticky marshmallows and melted chocolate off our faces and fingers, we went on a hayride and laughed and sang and snuggled.

we had such a fun-filled fall weekend!!!

While at the cabin, John, Carter, and I went fishing.  It was fun hanging out with just my boys.  That doesn't get to happen very often (or never).  Carter Man was the only child for a little while and I was the only girl.  Carter received all the attention and we were able to experience and enjoy his personality.  I liked it.

we spent the weekend at the cabin with our family.  the kids spent a lot of time playing on the gator.

drew and kylie...he loves her

she's one of my favorite things ever.

we went on a nature hunt.

we found some stuff.

lots of meaningful conversations were had.

carter loved loved loved riding the 4-wheeler (especially with mimi)!!!

this is scary...these two were not the best drivers (just ask poppa's azalea bush).

we decorated cookies and immediately consumed them!
